OOTD; I Figured Out A Way To Wear A Skirt Without Looking Like A Tool

I know I've been absent these past couple days; the honest truth? I had nothing to write about.
I watched some movies, read some books, made some decisions I'd been putting off, and basically recharged.

This post was supposed to be posted yesterday, but my internet timed out as soon as I finished -_-

Oh well, better late than never, and there will be a MixCassette later on today.

Yesterday I went out specifically for an article I'm going to write for his blog; I'll be finished hopefully some time next week.

I almost missed the bus by leaving my coin purse at home (Planning ahead, you elude me sometimes), but I managed to catch it.

On the bus, there was this girl who was just epitomizing the walk of shame. She was wearing a classy black coat, black open toed platforms, chipped black nail polish on said toes, and a messy bun in her hair. When she took off the coat briefly, I saw the strapless champagne coloured number underneath. She wasn't wearing a bra.

She seemed to like my outfit though, or at least I'm going to say that's why she kept staring at me.

Anyway, after I had finished the project, I went to H&M to browse, and saw two friends of mine on the boyfriend couches outside. We had lunch together, which consisted of me trying to eat vegetarian pad thai, despite not knowing how to use chopsticks.

SideNote;

Yes, I never learned how to use chopsticks. I'm not sure what it is; every single friend of mine has tried to teach me at some point in my life, but I just can't grasp the concept. I think it's because I don't hold pencils the regular way. My third grade teacher tried to break me of my habit of holding a pencil wonky, but I was eight by that point and too old to change.

We shopped for a bit, discussed life and whether or not sixty dollars was too much for a faux fur dress (It is not), and then public transited home, but not before I added Marc Jacobs' 'Rain' perfume to my Christmas wishlist.
After, I came home, attempted to post this blog, failed, then met my friend for coffee around eight at a Starbucks.

It's starting to feel like fall in Vancouver; last night my friend and I walked home at around ten at night and it was freezing. I'm into it, obvs, what with my hatred of summery weather and all.

Nails of the day! I'm wearing 'Russian Navy' by OPI. I absolutely adored the Russian Collection; it was the first collection that I bought two bottles of polish from, instead of just sampling one (Aside from 'Russian Navy' I bought 'An Affair In Red Square'). This was my favourite polish for a long time; it's almost black but when you're in the sunlight, the navy shimmer is just POW.

Yeah, you can tell I'm a fan of the dark polishes.

I've got a lot to psot about lately; later on today will bethe MixCassette, then it's my friends birthday party, then Canadian Thanksgiving. Family functions are always tricky to dress up for; I think I'm going to wear yesterdays high waisted skirt, just to class it up a bit. I'd love to do crazy eye shadow, but I know I'll be the person the most done up. In fact, I can't think of a single family get together in the past couple years where I wasn't the person the most dolled up.

C'est la vie, we're not a dressy sort of family.

QuestionOfTheDay;

What's your favourite fall clothing and/or make-up trend/look this year? Black lipstick is my favourite look, but I'm not sure what my fall 'uniform' will be yet. I'm kind of into faux fur coats, but I'm not sure if they're fabulous or hideous.

I find myself wondering that a lot.

It was a 'not looking at the camera' day.

I went to the optometrist for the first time in forever yesterday.
Guess what! I'm a candidate for laser eye surgery!
But oh no! They want me to wait until I've finished two years of university before going under the laser =(
Something about the intense textbook reading being bad for your eyes.

I love my optometrist; he looks like a normal guy, Caucasian, grey hair, kind eyes, but he's so quiet and well mannered.
I hated my first optometrist with a passion; she was this bitch who never listened to me. When I was fourteen and first starting wearing contacts, I always had trouble with my left eye being too sensitive for them. The stupid woman asked me which eye bothered me, and I pointed to my left eye.
She writes down 'right'. Because it was her right.
Being too young to want to tell an adult she's wrong, I concluded that I must have not read her handwriting properly. I go back a few months later and she asks me how my right eye is.
Fail.
When I tried to tell her it was my left eye that was bothering me, she rolls her eyes at me and tells me that my file says 'right eye' so I just must be stupid, trying to make her job harder, etc.

God, I hated that bitch.
But I love my current optometrist.

Anyway, I'm also going to get new frames soon; I've had these Gucci's since November/December of grade nine, and my mom keeps telling me it's time I get new ones.
I like these glasses though; I'm not sure what I would get to replace them.
I was thinking about maybe something like Dan Levy's?

I wanted white frames for a while, but my mom refused to pay for them. She said they were too ugly.

My current nail polish is 'Royal Rajah Ruby' by OPI, from the India Collection. This is the only India Collection polish I own.

I forgot how brown it is. I like it, but I'd like it more if it were black with an intense red shimmer, instead of burned brown with a bit of red. It's still very pretty, though.

Does anyone know what the next OPI collection is going to be? I haven't heard anything after Spain. I wish they'd redo a Canadian Collection; I think they missed an opportunity with the basic one they did. It was just boring.

I watched 'Milk' last night.


I was really moved by it; it got a bit slow towards the end, but I cried at his "Give them hope!" speech.
I'm not a huge fan of Sean Penn, but I love Emile Hirsch and Josh Brolin.
And James Franco after 'Pineapple Express'.

Was there a movie that completely changed your opinion of an actor, for better or worse?
I never liked Will Ferrel, even refusing to watch his movies. Then my friend made me, and I mean made me, watch 'Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy' with her.
It's one of my all time favourite movies.
Mila Kunis in 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' is another one; I can't stand 'That 70's Show' (and I've given it enough chance; the same friend forced me to watch hours upon hours of the show. I laughed once. The scene where Topher Grace and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are in the car together. But mostly because that one caught me off guard) but Mila Kunis herself is quite funny. When she's not having to deal with Wilmer Valderama.

More job hunting.

It absolutely poured yesterday; my boots soaked through, and they're for the most part water-proof. I haven't been out in a rainstorm that bad in awhile, and all of Robson Street was running for cover.

After I got home and changed into the same lazy day outfit that I wore in this post, my friend came over and we watched TV, made grilled cheese sandwiches, and played Scene-It. We were nowhere near as good at regular Scene-it than Harry Potter Scene-It.

I realize I never talked about the big HP Scene-It party I had a few weeks back, bit it's probably for the better.

You'd all judge me if you saw how much Harry Potter trivia I knew v_v

Elsie makes a cameo in those photos; when I put the camera on self timer, she kept going up to it and sniffing. I guess she saw the blinking light, and that kind of freaked her out.

I got 'The Listening' by Lights right after I wrote that blog post, and I really like it.

It's not too new, since I had about six of her songs off the album already, but 'Face Up' and 'Quiet' are amazing.

Are you a power dressing kind of person? Meaning do you like suits, blazers, heels, trenches, the whole professional look?

I do, which may surprise some people, especially people who knew me when i had my pink/purple hair. Wearing what I wore yesterday just makes me feel older, and more powerful.

I hate looking my age.
