OOTD; And I Go Back To..... Magenta

Top from Primark; Sweater, Jeggings, and Fur from H&M; Bracelets by Chan Luu and Tarina Tarantino; Studs by Mimi And Marge; Ring by Rings Eclectic;

'Morningstar' will forever be a favourite of mine.

So, after a journey to Surrey for supplies, two strippings, two bleaches, two dyings, six showers, and only one towel coming into contact with chemicals, I've gone from black to magenta! In a perfect world I'd like a light pink, bubblegum if you will, but we couldn't strip/bleach out all the black dye from the tips of my hair so magenta will have to suffice.
I really love being an unnatural colour again. A part of me will always be that little punk girl with the dyed hair and piercings in high school, even if I feel like I've moved on a little bit.
I'd love to do a Raquel Reed-esque turquoise, but the black bits will have to grow out first. Lucky for me, my natural hair takes bleach extremely well; my roots went white and my friend (who is a blonde) proclaimed that her hair hadn't even gone that light when she'd bleached it.

I didn't go to a salon to have this done; a close friend of mine told me that she knew what she was doing, so we headed down to the only beauty supply store we could find that didn't require a licence to shop there (in *shudder* Surrey) and I trusted her to not let my hair fall out. It didn't; she did a better job then the some of the salons I've been too. Official hair dyer fo life.

When paired with my leather combat boots (which apparently I've never posted about on this blog...) or a pair of heeled ankle boots, this has become my go-to uni outfit. It's comfortable and warm, and I'm still better dressed than almost everyone else there v____v

Tomorrow I am picking up, wait for it.....
My first pair. I got grey ones. Now I can officially be a member of 2NE1.

Love.

P.S. I was going through my pictures and found some of baby Elsie. This one was taken December 1st, 2007. She was not even nine weeks.
I can't believe she was ever that small...

OOTD; Madison, My Bitterness (AKA Back To Pink)

Jacket and skirt from H&M; Flats from Spring; Earrings by La Vie Parisienne; Ring by Bloodline; Glasses from Bang-On; Bag was;
thrifted

I think I'd be a good goth. Or at least half as cute as Adora BatBrat, which is more than sufficient for me.

School and illness got the better of me, I know. Forgiveness?

I'm enjoying school, though I find it really easy (save for statistics; I finished half the questions on our latest quiz then just handed it in. I didn't have a clue how to answer the other half. Teacher felt bad for me). English 100 will be the death of me however; we're learning how to use commas. Honest to god, fucking commas. How these kids managed to make it through life, much less school, is beyond me. And a kid in my Political Studies class thought France was currently a communist country. Can't even deal.

On the BRIGHT SIDE (hardy har har) look at me!

Question;
What make-up product are you obsessing over? For me it's highlighter; I've been using MAC Cream Colour Base in Pearl and MAC Eyeshadow in Phloof! overtop. So shiny...but it'll never be enough.

OOTD; Dog Walking Days Of Summer

Top by Wilfred; Jeggings from H&M; Sunglasses by Ray-Ban; Necklace by Pyrrha; Shoes by Vans;

I know I haven't been around the world nor seen it all, but some days I feel like I have.

Someone once, ironically, asked me what I wore to walk the dog since I'm so dressed up most the time. Well, here it is: a button-up and jeggings. I wore a bit or 'Peach Petal' lipgloss by Revlon but it had rubbed off by the time I took these photos. I should do a proper review of Revlon lipglosses; they're amazing. Non-sticky, pigmented, beautiful. 'Peach Petal' gives the perfect nude lip.
I've bought five new lipglosses in the past couple months. Am I a new convert?

If anyone is wondering about Elsie, and I know you are, she is a leonberger.

I'm not affiliated with Animal Planet or anything (obvs). Everyone is curious about our gentile giant; as my mom put it,
"It's like walking a celebrity."
Even if you're not interested, the video shows puppies trying to get over a fence and getting stuck! So cute.

I know not the most interesting post in the word, but some days a girl just wants to walk her dog.

OOTD: Vancouver IMATS (VanCity is moving up in the world)

Dress from H&M; Belt from Zara; Watch from Value Village; Bracelets by Chan Luu and Club Monaco; Headband from Forever 21; Earrings and bag are my mothers; Shoes from Aldo;

I love this dress; it's a bit of an awkward length but I feel like nude heels will make it seem on purpose.
I'm not a headband person, but I jostled enough cool moms out of the way in a hectic Forever 21 to try this pearl one on and it actually worked. I think the key is to have your hair up; I have no idea how to work and elastic headband if your hair is down.
Make-up-wise I did my trademark cateye (it was IMATS, I had to do something!) but I'm just not feeling it anymore. I am preferring (gasp) just mascara and to play up my lips and cheekbones. It's a new era I suppose.

For those of you in the know, IMATS is The International Make-Up Artist and Trade Show; it's only Vancouver's second year hosting it, with the other events taking place in New York, Los Angeles, London, Toronto, and Sydney. You know, the big cities.
I went with my cousins, of which took these photos, and dove in headfirst to make-up land.

The point of IMATS is to showcase young make-up artists, to try new products, and to let make-up artists buy their tools at discounted prices. It draws a crowd becasue anyone, make-up artist or no, can buy the make-up. The biggest draw was the Make-Up Forever table; if you had waited two hours in line, you too could have recived Make-Up Forever products 30% off. I did not.
I did however stop by NYX Cosmetics, which was also offering 30% off and no tax. I got three lipsticks, a blush,a lipgloss, and the infamous Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Milk'.
At Crown Brushes my cousins and I got super cheap mak-up brushes; I got about six and picked out matching ones for my cousin who is just starting out with make-up. Got her a blending brush, obvs.
Then what I was most excited for, Ben Nye! My only gripe is tha they were displaying the wheel concealer palettes, but not selling them. BUH. But they had an amazing deal where if you picked four of their shadows/blushes they'd give you a four pan palette free. So I made myself a little neutral eye kit. By far my favourite purchase.

I can't wait to back next year, and maybe then I'll get my concealer wheel.

Three things before I sign off:

1) I deleted all the GleeTips and MixCassettes. Starting fresh.

2) I'm thinking of doing outfit of the days on Youtube. I'll still post here, as this bloggy is my first priority, but I'd like to make a few and see how it goes.

3) I have an excuse for why these posts have been so few and far-between. Since July 27th I have been recovering from wisdom tooth extraction surgery. All four were pulled at once and the operation went smoothly. I slowly healed until about day four, where my the pain got worse everyday. The diagnoses was that I had two dry socket, muscle spasms, and a slight infection; I was given three new prescriptions, had my wisdom tooth holes stuffed with cloves (Yeah, they still use cloves to heal teeth) and am finally now on the mend. I haven't left this house this entire time except to go to the doctor, and today was the first day I ventured out for a quick walk with Elsie. These photos were taken July 23rd, but after lying in bed for a week I knew I wouldn't be dressing up anytime soon, so I delayed posting until I was healed. Does that make any sense? It did in my drug-addled brain. Anyway, I feel much better and will get back to life (and style) soon.

OOTD; Richmond Night Market

Blouse, belt, and bracelet from Club Monaco; Jeans from H&M; Watch from Value Village; Necklace by Pyrrha; Bracelet by Chan Luu; Earrings and bag are my mothers; Shoes from Aldo;

Summer in Vancouver means the return of the Richmond Night Market; stalls open in the evening carrying goods important from Asia (some legal, most not) and while shopping is the focus, it's not why people really come.
The real reason? The food. My favourites include takoyaki (octopus), egg puffs, and (obviously) bubble tea.

These photos were taken by my friend Kelly in the fading light by the lot in Richmond where the Night Market takes place. That night I succumbed to $30 worth of 3D nail decals which will be worn with all the gyaru fervour I can muster (a lot).

More Seventies inspiration; I love blouses. They're just so much simpler and classic than a t shirt. I promise the nest outfit will be a little something different than all these flares.

On another note, my face hurts; I had my wisdom teeth about two days ago and my god, am I ever swollen. I gasped when I saw myself the day after my surgery; I have quite a shapely face, if I do say so myself, and my cheek bones are quite prominent. They're gone, replaced with chipmunk cheeks. My sister laughed when she saw my grotesque visage and my aunt sighed
"Oh dear."

No youtube videos until I am healed!

OOTD; Seventies Revival

Top from True Value Vintage; Jeans from H&M; Belt from Zara; Clutch from H&M; Earrings were a gift from my dad; Bracelets by Tarina Tarantino; Sunglasses by Ray-Ban; Shoes from Aldo;

I swear I'll get back to this blogging business.

I was recently told to take a 'leave of absence' from my job. What this means is I was fired for being too sassy, without severance. Then told I was welcome to come back in the school year, as I was the best sales person they had. No lie, I can hustle jewellery like nobody's business.

Don't worry, I'm not sad; I was going to quit the same day. I'm serious, no sour grapes.
Anyways, I thought it appropriate to have a going away dinner for myself with my coworkers; they really are the sweetest group of girls, and the most drama free sale staff you could ever wish to find.

I've been on a seventies kick recently; when talking about my favourite style decades with a friend, I claimed the fifties were my favourite, until she countered that I often look more seventies. I kind of do.
So I take back my above statement; the fifties, seventies, and the current decade are my favourite fashionable periods.

What do I like about the modern era? You can get away with shit like this.

The three bracelets I'm wearing are the nude, hot pink, and black version of the famous Tarina Tarantino lucite skull bracelets. When I bought my black one, the last one I bought, I told my friend I'd wear them all together. She judged, but it's so gaudy I can't not. Their eyes are crystals!

The blouse, shoes, and jeans are from this Youtube haul video; I have some more videos planned, so if you're into the whole Youtube thing, get up on that subscribe button.

All righty, I must sign off.
I'm postin this in the wee hours, though I cannot go to sleep after; tomorrow morning I am giving my friend a make-over (after she's lost twenty pounds!!!).
I'm thinking conservative pin-up girl meets The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon. You'd agree with me if you knew her.

OOTD; Happy Gyaru Costco Time

Sweater from H&M; Maxi dess from H&M; Necklace by Pyrrha;
Converse;

Long time no OOTD. Maxi dresses are the new Minieggs, I just can't get enough. My style has evolved tremendously since I last posted, as moving from your birthplace to the big city, then consequently moving back to aforementioned birthplace. I'm much less 'hipster/punk' and more 'bohemian/ladies who lunch'. It's a tricky balance.

This was quite a casual outfit, inspired by the picture on the bottom right of this Egg magazine scan, specifically the Gyaru model on the left.

I just went to Costco avec ma mere. I need to be comfortable when manoeuvring my cart through the throngs over stereotypical, middle-aged white people who look like they're related to me and the adult Chinese children taking their parents shopping as their version of a family outing, but with savings! Regardless of race, those baby boomers will cut me off in a second; they're probably jealous of my youth.

As you may have noticed, I included a song at the beginning.
New transistion; no more GleeTips, StylePoints, or MixCasettes. just wasn't into them anymore. Who am I, a university drop-out, to tell you how to live your life? And my friend pointed out to e that five songs a week were monotonous. So, I want to use this blog as almost exclusively outfits of the day, with a song post at the beginning I think you should hear. I will occasionally post articles (as I like to write) and I'm thinking about doing a monthly feature on films (as that's something I know a bit about).

Does this morally offend anyone? Will you still read my blog if it consists of outfits of the day, nails of the day, faces of the day, the occasional article, and maybe my ramblings on the latest films? Leave a comment and let me know.

Oh, and of course there will be Elsie.
